MOH announces starting the plan for vaccination in state institutions

    The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday, the start of implementing the vaccination plan in state institutions, while indicating that it can storage the Corona vaccine for up to 72 hours without electricity.
     
    The Director General of the Public Health Department, Riyad Al-Halfi, stated to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that MOH has a plan to increase the number of the vaccination outlets as this increase enabled health teams to exist in all centers and state institutions, especially the crowded ones, including institutes, universities and colleges.
     
    Al-Halfi added that the plan was implemented in al-Karkh side, as the ministry appointed the health teams and supervisors of the various colleges there, noting that the ministry is waiting for the health departments to send their plan of increasing the new outlets in order to accommodate the increasing numbers of vaccines.
     
    MOH contracted with Pfizer to supply 12 million doses, explaining, that the company has allocated a share of 500,000 doses for the vaccine, which arrived at the end of last month, Al-Halfi mentioned.
     
    the remaining 11 and a half million doses will reach five million doses during the current month of July and the coming months of August and September, in a quantity that will reach ten times the departments, while the remaining doses, which are 6 and a half million doses, will arrive during the last three months of this year.
    Regarding Vaccine storage issue, Al-Halfi stated that the Ministry of Health has special refrigerators with refrigerated molds that preserve the vaccine for a period of up to 72 hours without electricity, in addition to the presence of a thermometer that shows the temperature and is under monitoring by the staff in the health center, and if the temperature changes, it will give a signal, noting that children’s vaccines are also  kept in the same refrigerators, and there is no fear in this regard in the event of a power outage in the health centers.
