IHEC: new procedures to use the short-term electronic card

    The Independent High Electoral Commission has developed new procedures for using the "short-term" electronic card to ensure the accuracy of voting by presenting official documents.

    According to IHEC the weekly statement , that  the Iraqi News Agency (INA) received a copy of it on Sunday, IHEC  stated: in order to consolidate the electoral process and ensure that it is conducted in accordance with international standards on October 10, 2021, IHEC has developed procedures for using the "short-term" electronic card, in a way that ensures the accuracy of voting through presenting official documents, as well as conducting the matching process for its holders in accordance with Article 39 / V / C of the electoral law  by using the ten fingerprints after biometric registration of their owners, affirming that  the short-term cards will be punctured and withdrawn after the end of the voting process.

    IHEC added, controls and instructions have been set for  the authorized political parties and organizations wishing to change the name of the party while retaining the number and date of the establishment permit, by submitting an application signed by the party leader or whoever is entitled to do so with the payment of an amount (12.5 million) not refundable to the Department of Parties and Political Organizations Affairs.
    During the statement, IHEC also confirmed forming a central committee headed by the Secretary-General of the Council of Commissioners and the membership of a number of employees specialized in administrative and legal aspects and information technology, to follow up the preparations of electoral offices in all the Iraqi provinces to conduct the electoral  lottery, as well as forming sub-committees in electoral offices to prepare the necessary requirements, under the supervision and follow-up of the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and  the members  of IHEC.
