Foreign Minister: Iraq is working to ease regional tensions

    Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein announced that Iraq is working to reduce regional tensions and urged all parties to renounce violence and give priority to the dialogue language .

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Hussein met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, Sophie Willems, and during the meeting, prospects for expanding cooperation between Iraq and the Kingdom of Belgium at all levels were discussed, and the two sides also discussed the issue of immigration and Iraqi refugees in Belgium and the issue of The families and children of foreign fighters present in Iraq, and the two sides stressed the need for continued cooperation and coordination in this field to reach a common understanding through which a number of outstanding cases can be resolved. At the end of the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of continuing consultation and coordination between them to serve the common interests of both friendly countries. 

    The minister said, according to the statement, that "Iraq appreciates the role played by its European partners to support the ongoing political process in Iraq and praises the support it received during its war on ISIS terrorist gangs," noting that "Iraq is now looking forward to the European Union countries, especially the Kingdom of Belgium, having a role. Active in the reconstruction of infrastructure and services.

    Hussein stressed that "the time has come for Belgian companies and banks to enter the Iraqi investment market," explaining that "the Iraqi government is doing everything in its power to provide the required support for these companies."
