A Manhattan grand jury has issued an indictment against Trump Organization and its chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, with tax evasion, the first criminal charges linked to the investigation in years.
Sources said Weisselberg, the longtime chief financial officer of the Trump Organization is also expected to be indicted with tax-related charges.
Weisselberg, whose role in the company has come under scrutiny by prosecutors in recent months, is expected to surrender to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office on Thursday to be fingerprinted and processed before being arraigned in New York State Criminal Court.
The Manhattan District Attorney's Office is investigating widespread fraud, and in February, after a protracted legal battle, Cyrus Vance Jr, the Manhattan District Attorney, obtained former US President Donald Trump's tax returns.
Prosecutors focused on Trump's business dealings, and those of his associates, including Weisselberg and his family.
Trump, Weisselberg denied the charges, affirming that the prosecutors are politically motivated.
