The Ministry of Health and Environment revealed on Tuesday, there are indications that the mutated Indian strain of the Corona virus known as Delta has entered Iraq.
The Director-General of Al-Karkh Health department, Dr. Jaseb Al-Hajami, said in a statement to Al-Sabah official newspaper, the mutated Indian strain (Delta) is one of the most dangerous strains, and several factors have proven its presence in Iraq, including the increase in the new infected cases among young people and High numbers of people in intensive care units, as it increased from 300 to more than 500 cases divided among severe and critical cases across the country.
Al-Hajami added that according to covid-19 tests, the number of the infected cases were less than 10%, but currently, according to the latest epidemiological statistics, it become more than 12%, and this rapid increase in the infected cases indicates the entry of the Indian strain.
