Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bashir Al-Haddad, announced on Monday, that Baghdad's hosting the Iraq-Egypt-Jordan summit asserts Iraq's leading and important role in the region.
Al-Haddad welcomed the summit for cooperation in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, which brought together Iraq, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, according to a statement by the media office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bashir Al-Haddad, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He noted that "the historic visit of the Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, and the arrival of King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan to the land of Mesopotamia and at this stage, comes within the framework of what has been achieved from previous summits, building a partnership of the highest levels, between the three influential countries, and evaluating coordination mechanisms to face challenges in the region and the Middle East,”
"Baghdad's hosting of the summit is a positive indicator, confirming the importance of Iraq's leading role in the region," he expressed, adding that this is "a good opportunity to discuss files and issues of common interest, and implement strategic projects that combine Cairo, Baghdad and Amman, as well as building Solid and balanced foundations between the brotherly countries, with which we have historical relations.
Al-Haddad stressed the need to "increase security and military cooperation to eliminate terrorism, in addition to economic, cultural, and health cooperation, especially in light of the Corona pandemic, and to support efforts to ensure security and stability, as well as to reduce security and military tension throughout the region,"
