Al-Kadhimi congratulates Iraqi journalists on Iraqi Press Day

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi congratulated the Iraqi journalists on the 152nd anniversary of Iraqi Press Day, affirming that Iraqi press was and still an essential part for defending the interests of the people.

Al-Kadhimi said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), I extend my best congratulations, full of hope and confidence, to the great Iraqi journalists while they celebrate the 152nd anniversary of the Iraqi Press Day, adding after the birth of new era in Iraq, the press mission became more accurate and important, as it is the eye of the people, their compass for the truth, and their platform for free opinion, without which democracy will not achieved. 

Al-Kadhimi also remembered the martyrs of the press and their honorable stances to deliver the truth alongside with the armed forces in their war against terrorism, confirming his full confidence that Iraqi journalists will continue their efforts in combating extremism, supporting the state and the law, enhancing Iraq's unity, and adopting responsibility, objectivity and professionalism.
