The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, stressed today, Saturday , on the fairness to the families of the martyrs and the completion of victory over terrorism.
Salih said in a tweet: We remember the tragedy of Camp Speicher massacre, the bloodiest catastrophe against human and the heinous crime committed by the terrorists’ gangs of ISIS against our defenseless youth.
The law of Speicher Martyrs' Rights was the least of our duties, and we all have to do justice to their families, and complete the victory against terrorism by establishing a capable state that protects its citizens and ensures that such disasters will not be repeated, Salih added.
In April 2019, the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, adopted a bill to provide justice for the victims of Camp Speicher, and the Presidency sent it to the Iraqi parliament to vote, and after voting on it President of the Republic approved the law to enter into force.
The law states that the victims of the Speicher crime that took place in June 2014 and committed by ISIS terrorist gangs are considered martyrs, whether their remains have been found or not.
Speicher martyrs enjoy all the rights granted to the martyrs stipulated in the Military Service and Retirement Law No. 3 of 2010, just like their peers in the Ministry of Defense, and all rights and privileges.
