The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi, confirmed today, Thursday, that the members of the Christian and Sabian Property Return Committee held Muqtada Al-Sadr's will regarding the return of property in trust.
The media office of the First Deputy stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Kaabi received in his office today, the Minister of Immigration and Displacement Ivan Faeq Jabro and the Lebanese Ambassador in Baghdad Ali Adib Al-Habhab, and the delegation accompanying them, and during the meeting, relations with the State of Lebanon were discussed economic conditions and the importance of political stability, which will result in overcoming all obstacles.
He added, "Coordination between the embassy and the Ministry of Immigration was discussed in a number of files of common interest, as well as ways to enhance cooperation between the Iraqi embassies in Beirut and the Lebanese embassies in Baghdad to receive property complaints of Christians residing in Lebanon and all countries."
The Minister of Immigration and the Lebanese ambassador, according to the statement, commended the efforts made by the committee formed with Al-Kaabi's membership, and under the direct supervision of Muqtada Al-Sadr, to return the properties usurped by some weak-minded Iraqis, Christians and Sabians, while the minister presented the shield of excellence to Al-Kaabi for his standing and support for the ministry in general and for Christians in particular.
The First Deputy confirmed, according to the statement, that "all members of the Committee for the Return of Christian and Sabean Property, including the speaker, we have carried the will of Mr. Muqtada al-Sadr in trust with us, and we must carry out our tasks effectively until the committee's work is completed," stressing that "the committee is still in continuous and direct follow-up In coordination with the concerned authorities, with the aim of redressing them and returning their properties.
For his part, the Lebanese Ambassador, Habhab, expressed his gratitude and thanks to the Iraqi people and their government, which stood with the Lebanese people during their economic crisis by providing emergency aid and direct cooperation.
Mr. Al-Sadr had earlier instructed to form a committee to receive complaints from Christians regarding their usurped properties and properties.
A document issued by Mr. Al-Sadr's office and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Mr. Al-Sadr directed the formation of a special committee to receive the complaints of Christians regarding their usurped property and real estate."
