Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi confirmed, during his meeting with Patriarch Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako, working to resolve the issues through dialogue to prevent the bloodshed.
The Patriarchate's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "His Beatitude Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako accompanied by Associate Bishop Robert Said Gerges met, Sunday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, at the Government Palace in the Green Zone in Baghdad.
During the meeting, Al-Kadhimi confirmed the message that Sako sent to him on June 2, 2021, that it “accurately expressed the complex situation”.
On his part, Sako explained the situation of the marginalized Christian component, which suffers from unemployment and the absence of development projects in the towns of the Nineveh Plains, hoping the welfare for the country, which does not lack natural resources or human capabilities."
At the end of the meeting, Sako thanked the Prime Minister and praised his calm manner and dialogue.
