The Directorate of Civil Defense in Dohuk Governorate announced today, Friday, that it has brought under control the Shariya camp fire in the governorate, while confirming the start of an investigation to find out the causes of the accident.
The spokesman for the Directorate, Pewar Abdel Aziz, said in an interview with a number of media outlets, including the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the fire that broke out in Shariya camp resulted in the burning of nearly 400 tents."
Abdel Aziz added, "The civil defense teams were able to control the fire," stressing that "the investigation has begun to find out the causes of the fire."
And the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), reported earlier today, that a large fire broke out in the Sharya camp in Dohuk.
The reporter said that "a big fire broke out this afternoon in the Sharya camp, which is located in the Samil district of Dohuk governorate," noting that "the camp includes thousands of displaced Yazidis."
He continued, "The civil defense teams rushed to extinguish the fire using all methods, including helicopters," noting that so far the causes of the fire have not been known.
