The Mayor of Baghdad, Alaa Maan, called today, Thursday, to open prospects for cooperation with Tunisia to preserve heritage sites and buildings, while the Tunisian ambassador, Reda Zguidan, confirmed the pursuit of twinning between Baghdad and Tunisia.
A statement by the secretariat, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the Mayor of Baghdad, Alaa Maan, met with the Tunisian ambassador to Iraq, Reda Zguidan, and the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Tunisia were discussed, and the keenness to establish an exemplary relationship based on rapprochement and brotherly ties between the two capitals."
According to the statement, the Mayor of Baghdad called for "opening up prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the field of preserving sites and buildings of a historical and heritage nature and exchanging experiences between the two countries in this regard."
For his part, Zguidan expressed "his country's interest in strengthening bilateral relations between the two sides and benefiting from the experience of the city of Kairouan in preserving the heritage role, reviving handicrafts and heritage, and seeking twinning between the two capitals, Baghdad and Tunisia."
