The Independent Higher Election Commission announced today, Tuesday, the possibility of candidates resorting to the judiciary if they are threatened, while indicating that it is ready to conduct the elections with integrity, fairness and transparency.
Commission spokeswoman Jumana Al-Ghalai told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "candidates can file complaints if they are threatened," indicating that "this issue is resolved by resorting to the judiciary and justice."
They added, "The mechanism for preventing scraping on social networking sites is not within the jurisdiction of the Electoral Commission," noting that "this issue is political."
"The commission is committed to its technical work and is ready to conduct the elections with all integrity, fairness and transparency," Al-Ghalai stressed.
