IHEC: An operations room set to verify the eligibility of candidates

    The Independent High Electoral Commission announced today, Friday, the formation of an operations room to verify the eligibility of candidates within 15 days, while confirming its readiness to conduct a simulation of the voting process.

    A spokeswoman for the Commission, Jumana Al-Ghalai, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "there are 44 coalitions that have been approved, and 267 parties have a certificate of incorporation, in addition to that the candidates numbered more than 3500 candidates, including 887 independent candidates, and more than 900. A candidate to ensure the women's quota in all electoral districts. "

    Al-Ghalai continued: “Now, in the Electoral Commission / National Office - Candidate Affairs Division, an audit process is underway and reviewing the candidates’ priorities and their supporters, confirming their data and classifying them, and after the verification phase ends, it will be sent to the relevant authorities, including accountability and justice, integrity, forensic evidence, and the Ministry of Education. And higher education and scientific research, after which an operation room will be formed to facilitate this task and verify the eligibility of candidates within 15 days.

    The Commission warned, "All these numbers and numbers are not final, but the final list will be decided after receiving the answer from these institutions and the approval of the Board of Commissioners on the numbers and names of the candidates."

    The Commission also added, "Candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections were allowed to move with their families according to the constituency for which they were nominated and according to the ration card, wherever the candidate in any district has the right to move his family in order to ensure their vote and vote as well." 

    In addetion to that "The Commission is currently preparing for the polling stage, and a study has been prepared for the mechanism for selecting polling personnel," confirming "the formation of a committee to study the mechanism for selecting polling personnel."
