Baghdad - INA
The Ministry of Health set today, Tuesday, a condition to limit the spread of the epidemic in Iraq, and while it indicated that 2% of the Iraqi people have received the vaccine so far, it threatened to take legal measures against anyone who underestimates the importance of the vaccine .
The Director of Public Health, Riyadh Abdul-Amir Al-Halfi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), speaking about the Eid period and the visits that took place during which may allow the number of injuries to escalate: “The results of families’ failure to adhere to preventive measures during the Eid do not appear now, but rather within two weeks. Noting that "there is a slight decrease in injuries."
He added, "This decrease is not due to receiving the vaccine, but rather because most of those exposed to infection have been infected," noting that "only 500 thousand people received the vaccine out of 40 million, and this constitutes 2% of the population."
Al-Halfi expected "the decrease in infections", pointing out that "if 60-70% of the citizens, especially adults, are vaccinated, the epidemic will be controlled and there will be herd immunity and will not spread again."
