The Catalan local radio "RAC1" confirmed that Ronald Koeman's career with Barcelona was nearing an end, after the Dutch coach failed to win the confidence of President Juan Laporta.
The radio stated that Laporta met, last week, with Koeman at the Via Veneto restaurant in Barcelona to discuss what he described as "future plans."
They also stated: "With 99 percent, the fate of the Dutch coach will be officially decided next week."
For its part, the Spanish newspaper "AS" said that despite winning the King's Cup this year, the disappointing start of the season and a series of recent poor results had a key role in making the decision to terminate Koeman's contract.
The newspaper pointed out that the management of the Catalan team began to search for a replacement Koeman, focusing its lights on Xavi Hernandez, to return him to the walls of "Camp Nou" as a coach this time.
