Al-Halbousi stresses the importance of strengthening cooperation between Baghdad and Washington

    Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, stressed today, Tuesday, the importance of strengthening cooperation between Baghdad and Washington.

    The media office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Halbousi received the American government delegation headed by the White House Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, Brett McGurk, and included the US State Department advisor, Derek Chollet, and the Assistant Secretary of State. For Near Eastern Affairs, Joy Hood, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East Affairs, Dana Stroll.

    The statement added, "The meeting dealt with developing cooperation between Iraq and the United States of America in the security, economic, cultural and commercial fields, as well as health in light of combating the Corona pandemic, as well as discussing the importance of activating the outcomes of the strategic dialogue between the two countries.

    During the meeting, Al-Halbousi stressed "the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two countries in all fields, and supporting Iraq's security and stability."

    For its part, the American delegation expressed, "the continued support of the United States of America to Iraq, and their commitment to the strategic partnership, and to work together for a strong, sovereign Iraq."
