PRC unveils two draft laws to give every citizen a home

    The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee revealed, today, Sunday, two draft laws, the first aiming to own every Iraqi a residence and the second to settle the slums file.

    A member of the committee, Abbas Al-Atafi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The services committee followed up many laws that contribute to solving the housing crisis and the decisions of the Council of Ministers related to this matter, as well as the housing complexes file of the National Investment Authority and the Ministry of Construction and Housing."

     Two draft laws within the House of Representatives, the first guaranteeing every Iraqi housing, and the second guarantee addressing the construction of informal settlements on official and agricultural lands, especially those that have been turned into residential areas.

    Al-Atafi added, "The Services Committee also sought to monitor the housing sums of the suspended housing complexes in the Ministry of Housing and Construction and discuss their problems, and devoted one day a week to discussing the problems of residential complexes between the General Directorate of Housing and State and Municipalities and followed up with the governors granting them powers to distribute plots of land for employees."
