Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi confirmed on Saturday, that the government is working to develop the Social Security Law, stressing that fighting corruption is one of the government's priorities as well.
Al-Kadhimi made a visit and held a meeting with workers in the central bank building project on the occasion of International Labor Day, according to a statement from his media office received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
“I congratulate all Iraqi workers on this day, and I wish them and their families health, safety and wellness and thank you for your tremendous efforts, especially since you are continuing to work today to complete this great cultural landmark designed by one of the figures of Iraq, Zaha Hadid,” said PM Al-Kadhimi.
He added that "all world civilizations were built by honorable workers, and the great peoples of the world witnessed their rise at the hands of workers," noting that "Iraq, today, is going towards a reconstruction and building movement and is keen to support internal and external investment, as well as the driving force of all this is the Iraqi factor that will build the country, "
Al-Kadhimi pointed out that "combating corruption in investment projects is the focus of attention and a priority of this government, as we have taken many measures, and we are going more to build and rebuild our country, as well as, we must provide all support to the Iraqi worker and create a safe and secure environment for work and a decent life for families,"
"We have previously directed the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to work on developing the legal and social environment for the Iraqi worker, and we are currently working on developing the Social Security and Retirement Law to provide greater security for the Iraqi worker," he added.
Al-Kadhimi affirmed: "Protecting the rights of workers in the private sector for a fair environment that creates equal and appropriate opportunities,"
