Minister of Defense Jumah Inad Al-Jubouri announced today, Thursday,the government's intention to add new aircraft to the air force from developed countries, while indicating that the air power could not be dispensed with .
Defense Minister Jumah Al-Jubouri said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "armies, whatever they are, cannot carry out their combat duties without support or air cover," noting that "the air force is a very important formation in resolving the battles."
He added, "During the three years and two months in our war with ISIS criminal gangs, the air force was a great support for the ground forces and contributed to achieving victory by destroying dens and reconnaissance."
Al-Jubouri added that "the air force is a major and important weapon that cannot be dispensed with," explaining that "the government is determined to develop it and add new aircraft to it from developed countries."
For his part, the Commander of the Air Force, Pilot Lieutenant General Shihab Jahid, told the Iraqi News Agency that "the leadership of the air force keeps pace with the current developments in the world in the field of aircraft technology and is informed about it, as well as the higher military leadership has information about these developments," indicating that "the high command is determined to modernize the air force with aircraft New".
