The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority issued statistics on the air traffic of Iraqi airports operating in the country during the past 2020, despite the "Corona" pandemic and the measures imposed on travel traffic for the purpose of protecting travelers.
The Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Thursday, that "the total number of departing and arriving passengers to Iraqi airports reached (2,003,279) passengers, and the number of flights reached (24,983) landing and departure flights, most of which were To evacuate and transport our Iraqi citizens stranded in foreign countries through full commitment to the decisions of the Supreme Committee for Health and National Safety. “The authority confirmed that “those statistics issued by the Authority's Air Transport Planning and Economics Division, which included the total number of passengers and flights at Iraqi airports and all of (Baghdad, Basra, Najaf) Erbil, Sulaymaniyah), which came as a result of effort and continuous work by the concerned parties in those airports with a set of facilities and services granted to operating airlines with the aim of enhancing the reality of their services to travelers.
The authority stated: "The total number of mobile passengers arriving and departing through Baghdad International Airport reached (928983), traveling with flights amounting to (11391) flights, and the total number of passengers to Basra International Airport reached (198048) passengers, and the total number of flights in it reached (2969) flights.
The authority also added, "The total number of passengers traveling to Najaf Airport is (272770) passengers, and the total number of flights in it reached (2836) flights, and the total number of passengers to Erbil International Airport was (493,454) passengers and flights amounted to (5911). As for Sulaymaniyah International Airport, the total number of passengers the travelers there are (110024) traveling, with a total of (1876) departures and departures.
