The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) approved procedures for universal voting and counting and, using devices to accelerate results.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the commission said, “With the increasing pace of the election commission’s work, the Board of Commissioners approved the procedures for general polling and counting by using results acceleration devices, taking into account the recommendations of the United Nations Office for Electoral Assistance (UNAMI) and the International Organization for Electoral Systems IFES based on this on the legal framework that organizes elections according to the open list system and individual nomination according to Elections Law No. (9) of 2020, according to which Iraq has become (83) electoral constituencies.
The commission also added, "In the same context and within the preparations of the Technical Commission for polling day, it was approved to send forms of ballot papers for public and private voting to the (Korean Miro company that manufactures verification devices and electronic results acceleration devices) for the purpose of conducting an experimental simulation of the voting process in the presence of the checking company. There is a ballot paper for each of the (83) constituencies, with a number of copies commensurate with the number of registered voters. The data entries of the results, reconciliation and conformity forms for the more than (58,000) polling stations.
