Digital Media Center - DMC has announced the closure of thousands of terrorist accounts and their supporters during the past three months on Twitter, with the assistance of an Iraqi team.
DMC stated that the digital security team specialized in psychological operations and countering extremism in the Iraqi counter-terrorism agency (PSYOP) has contributed in tracking and stopping approximately 6500 accounts affiliated with ISIS or is in solidarity with it and promoting it on the Twitter in the context of an electronic war against the organization on this important platform, included a statement received by Iraqi News Agency INA.
It also stated that among the closed accounts, there are approximately 682 accounts called “ammunition”, which are important accounts for the organization that constitute a link between terrorist groups on Twitter and Telegram platforms, and distribute the posts that is received sometimes from Telegram to the rest of the accounts on Twitter in a natural way again and again. Therefore, stopping it greatly contributes to blocking the process of distributing data.
DMC affirmed that hundreds of accounts belonging to members of the terrorist organization ISIS are currently promoting the organization's activities on Twitter and other social platforms, taking advantage of Corona crisis and delaying the response to the request to close accounts with some platforms.
Earlier, on Thursday; 16th of this month, DMC revealed the increasing numbers of ISIS members ’accounts on communication sites in the recent period, and warned users not to interact with them and asked them to report them to help companies deal with them immediately.
