Al-Sahaf reveals the details of Shukry's visit

    Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf revealed the details of the visit of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to Iraq, while affirming Iraq’s commitment to international laws regarding Daesh children ’extradition to their countries.

    Al-Sahaf said in a statement to Iraqi News Agency (INA): Shukry's visit to Iraq comes in the context of strengthening bilateral relations between Baghdad and Cairo, and to complete the previous discussions at the trilateral meeting held last year in Cairo between Prime Minister Adel Abdel-Mahdi and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi And King Abdullah II of Jordan.

    He added that "as well as to follow up the decisions of the trilateral meeting held at the level of the foreign ministers of Iraq, Egypt and Jordan, and then the joint Egyptian-Jordanian-Iraqi committees," indicating that this comes to follow up on the actions that resulted from these meetings at all levels, whether economic, education or housing. Passing through the so-called common Arab market and access to training in various aspects.

    He pointed out that Iraq over the past year was chairing the 153rd session of the Arab League at the ministerial level, which was chaired by Foreign Minister Muhammad Ali al-Hakim, as his national positions on Arab issues were consistent, especially the Palestinian issue, and affirming the Palestinian people's right to establish a unified state with Jerusalem as its capital.

    He added that Iraq’s position on the conflict in Libya, Syria and Yemen was also consistent, as he stressed pushing the Arab group towards promoting the principle of internal solutions peacefully in these countries and supporting components of the national forces, to conduct these dialogues and not to interfere in Arab internal affairs.

    He pointed out that Shukry's visit came to thank Iraq for his stances regarding the Renaissance Dam between Egypt and Ethiopia, noting that Ethiopia is the source country for the Nile and Egypt is the country that traverses the river, as there are economic interests related to the Nile that are reflected on the Egyptian society and national security.
