Today, Sunday, President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, discussed with the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General Adama Dieng, international efforts to prevent genocide.
"President Barham Salih received at the Peace Palace in Baghdad the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations responsible for the prevention of genocide Adama Dieng and the accompanying delegation," said a statement by the Presidential Information Office of the Republic received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The statement pointed out that "international efforts to reduce crimes and violations committed by terrorist organizations against citizens that can be described as (genocide crimes) were discussed, and emphasized the importance of holding those involved in those heinous acts accountable and bringing them to justice through international tribunals to obtain a fair punishment."
