MOFA directed to stop granting immigrants visas to a number of countries

    Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed the Iraqi embassies in five countries to stop granting entry permits to expatriates because of the Corona virus.

    "The foreign minister directed the Iraqi embassies in China, Iran, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Italy and Singapore to stop granting entry visas to foreigners," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Al-Sahaf said in a statement to the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

    He added that "the minister excluded the Iraqis from these countries, as well as diplomats working in diplomatic missions, and official delegations, provided that they are subject to the procedures of the Ministry of Health."

    He continued, "As far as the matter is concerned with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding the content of the decisions of the Committee for Diwaniya No. 55 of 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs directed to work with the second point of the decision, and the continued extension of the suspension of granting entry permits to foreign arrivals directly or indirectly from the Republic of China and Iran to Another notice, and work in point III to stop granting entry permits to arrivals directly or indirectly from countries (Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Italy, and Singapore) and to further notice as well. "
