Deputy Speaker of Parliament Bashir Khalil Al-Haddad announced today, Thursday, that the parliament will hold its special session to give confidence to the new government in the event that a candidate for prime minister and ministerial portfolios is agreed upon.
A statement to the media office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Bashir Khalil Al-Haddad demanded that the heads of the blocs, party leaders and partners in the political process need to end the file of forming the new government because Iraq is going through a sensitive and complex stage."
He stressed "the importance of everyone being aware of the seriousness of the situation, the exacerbation of security and economic problems, the paralysis of the movement of life in many areas of the country, and the lack of control of the current government over public conditions, which caused great concern among the general public."
He stressed, "The parties to the political process must expedite the resolution of a candidate for prime minister because the situation has become very disturbing in light of the continued demonstrations, the daily casualties and the continuing tension, so the government shoulders its responsibilities in protecting peaceful demonstrators, responding to their legitimate demands and maintaining security."
