Iran threatens to review its cooperation with atomic energy

The head of Iran's Shura Council (Parliament), Ali Larijani, warned on Sunday that Tehran may review its relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency, amid escalating tension over its nuclear program.

Larijani confirmed, in a speech delivered at the beginning of the open session of Parliament, that Tehran may take a "serious decision" in this regard, in the event that Britain, France and Germany move forward in activating the dispute settlement mechanism for the nuclear agreement concluded between Iran and the 5 + 1 group in 2015.

The speaker of the Iranian parliament accused the three European countries that signed the nuclear deal of bowing to the pressure of the United States on this issue, for fear of increasing the American fees on imports of European cars by 25%.

He said, "If Europe behaves unfairly and for any reason resort to Article 37 of the nuclear agreement, then the Islamic Republic of Iran will take a serious decision in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency."
