
A statement by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, a copy of which received by INA, said that Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim has discussed on Monday with Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon,Minister of State for the Commonwealth and UN affairs in the British Foreign Office, the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and London and the ways of strengthening them to the best interests of the two friendly countries.
“The two men discussed also the latest development in the region”, the statement went on “and the repercussions of current tensions on other parts of the world, since the region is considered the vital artery that supplies the world with energy.”
The statement stressed also ‘the importance of concerted efforts and cooperation to improve security and stabilityin the region, as well as helping Iraq in its infrastructure reconstruction efforts and exchanging visits between officials of the two countries to open new horizons for cooperation.’
