President Barham Salih met the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC), Peter Maurer, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York City.
Salih asserted the significance of the humanitarian aspect which was given attention by ICRC over Iraq, and emphasized its role in delivering relief aid to displaced persons and meeting the needs of the civilian populations during and after the war against terror.
The President called upon ICRC to intensify efforts aimed at supporting Iraq in the fields of health, environment, refugees and missing persons moreover, reintegration of ISIS war-affected populations into Iraqi society as well.
Various humanitarian activities regarding plans and programs of ICRC across the country were reviewed as well.
