Turkey and Iraq discuss water crisis

    INA - Baghdad Iraqi Minister of Water Resource Hassan Al-Janabi called for respecting the water needs of Iraq. This came during a meeting between Al-Janabi and the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq Fatih Yildiz where both sides have discussed the mutual interest of water crisis and the occurred damages. Al-Janabi presented a complete reading over the current water situation in the country that should be taken in consideration, especially in summer and winter. The Iraqi minister asserted that it is necessary to make sure that filling ‘ilisu Dam’ won’t cause any further damage to Iraq. “The agreements between the two must be flexible and harmless,” Al-Janabi said. Yildiz confirmed that the Turkish government is keen on improving the mutual relations between the two countries especially the water and agriculture files.
