Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi welcomed the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Hassan Rowhani and his accompanying delegation and expressed his hope that the visit will contribute to the development of relations between the two countries and the two neighboring peoples in all fields and enhance security, stability and prosperity for all peoples of the region.
The Prime Minister and the Iranian President chaired the joint talks which started in Baghdad in the presence of ministers and officials from the two delegations. They discussed cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, enhancing security and stability efforts, discussing cooperation in economic and trade fields and many joint files, mainly oil, agriculture, reconstruction, Industrial zones and border crossings.
The Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and his accompanying delegation immediately after his arrival at the government palace on Monday afternoon, during which he played the Iraqi and Iranian republics and the honor guards and the various types of Iraqi armed forces.
