Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, confirmed that Iraq has succeeded in strengthening its position as a global communications corridor by attracting numerous international companies. She noted that the "Civilizations Road" project has contributed to increasing internet capacity in Iraq from 10 GB to more than 1,800 GB.
The Minister of Communications told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We have succeeded in the recent short period in building trust in the Iraqi corridor and attracting many international companies," stressing that "many international companies have turned their attention to Iraq to pass their communications through its territory."
She pointed out that "within a few months, through the Civilizations Road project with IQ Company, which is a successful project that provides high SLI, we succeeded in increasing capacities from a small number not exceeding 10 GB to more than 1800 GB in a short period. We also implemented the Dark Fiber strategy, which is the first time this has happened in Iraq, and there are only a few countries in the region that operate in it."
Al-Yasiri emphasized that "all these efforts are focused on enhancing Iraq's geographical position in the region," noting that "our goal with these strategic projects is not only to maximize revenues, but also to enhance security and economic stability in the country."
