The head of the Defence Industries Commission, Mustafa Ati, confirmed on Monday that the Commission has started producing weapons and medium materiel according to international standards, noting that the production of electric cars has reached advanced stages.
Ati told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Defence Industries Commission is working to localize military and civilian industries through intensive training courses for Iraqi cadres, in addition to exchanging visits and experiences.”
“The Commission has completed many important projects that aim to secure the needs of the security forces and meet the necessary requirements, and continues its efforts to localize other industries that directly support the security forces,” he said.
“The military industries that are being localized are based on advanced and modern technology, and we are working to bring in high-tech civil and military industries, and we do not accept anything less,” he said.
Regarding the types of weapons that are manufactured, he noted that “the commission produces light weapons, including rifles of four types and pistols of four types, in addition to starting the production of medium weapons, with the availability of light materiel, and starting the production of medium materiel, artillery and mortar ammunition.”
“All military products are subject to international standards and specifications, as approved military standards are applied to ensure the quality of manufactured products,” Ati said.
