    Baghdad-INA
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani confirmed today, Saturday, that industrial and infrastructure projects represent a priority for the government program.

The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA),"Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani today, Saturday, remotely inaugurated three major projects via teleconference:"
     • Al-Dhawari Iron and Steel Factory in Sulaiman Bek, Salah al-Din Governorate
     • Hydrogen Pharmaceutical Plant for manufacturing cancer treatment drugs in Karbala Governorate
     • Al-Fatha Bridge over the Tigris River, linking Salah al-Din and Kirkuk Governorates

Al-sudani praised," the efforts of governors, officials, and private sector companies involved in implementing these vital projects he reaffirmed that infrastructure development remains a priority in the government’s program, covering both delayed projects and those damaged by ISIS terrorism."

He specifically referenced Al-Fatha Bridge, which was destroyed during the war against ISIS. Following his August 2023 visit, when completion stood at less than 40%, he directed the removal of obstacles. Thanks to dedicated efforts by the governorate, workers, and the executing company, the bridge was completed and redesigned to support oil and gas pipelines alongside its transportation function.

Key Highlights from the Prime Minister’s Remarks

Investing in transportation infrastructure generates long-term economic benefits, including job creation and agricultural and industrial growth.

Al-Dhawari Iron and Steel Factory is a successful private-sector project, built to modern specifications to supply construction materials.

The factory’s importance is underscored by rising construction activity and an increasing demand for building materials.

More than one million housing units are under construction through investment licenses, underscoring the need for more construction material projects.

Advancing the pharmaceutical industry positions Iraq as a regional leader in the production of complex medications at affordable costs.

Localizing pharmaceutical production will save foreign currency and create employment opportunities for pharmaceutical specialists.
