The Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, confirmed today, Thursday, that any honor for Baghdad represents a blending of peoples, civilizations, tourism and intellectuals.
Al-Mashhadani said during the celebration of Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital, which was organized by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), and attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "It is an honor to talk about Baghdad, as it is the city of Abu Jaafar Al-Mansour, as if it was formulated in a mold, and Imam Al-Shafi'i said about it, I have never entered a country without considering it a journey except Baghdad, as when I entered it, I considered it a homeland."
He added that "tourism and culture in Baghdad, such as Al-Karkh and Al-Rusafa, have embraced each other for more than a thousand years on the banks of tourism and culture and are inseparable, and any honor to make it a capital represents a blending of peoples, civilizations, tourism and intellectuals in it in search of the essence and metal of Baghdad."
