Rashid said in a speech during the third Erbil Forum on (the mounting concern about the future of the Middle East), followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “For more than a year, the Middle East region has been in constant political, security and military movement, which reflected on the political map in some countries of the Middle East region, and began to warn of security and societal threats in other countries, and Iraq will not be far from it.”
“The Palestinian people have been subjected for almost a year and a half to an aggression that began in the Gaza Strip and extended today to the West Bank in front of the silence of most of the world's countries,” he added.
He emphasized the need to “continue the cessation of hostilities, relief for the afflicted, and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on their national soil.”
He continued: “We hope that the change in Syria will meet the aspirations of the Syrian people with all their nationalities, components and sects, and we will work to establish friendly relations with the new governing system, based on mutual respect and cooperation and non-interference in internal affairs.”
He emphasized “the need to fully adhere to the principles of the constitution and work to establish the principles of social justice and equality among the people of nationalities and sects to protect the democratic system,” pointing out that “there is no alternative to this option for the people to enjoy freedom, prosperity and stability.”
“Iraq's new policy is based on respecting the sovereignty of states and the choices of peoples and committing to establishing friendly and balanced relations with all, while rejecting any interference in Iraq's internal affairs,” he noted.
“Iraq is capable of responding to all interventions and violations of its borders and territories, but we believe in diplomatic solutions, friendly dialogues and bilateral understandings,” he stressed.
