Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed, today, Sunday, the importance of the media in conveying the true image of various events and issues, indicating that the media plays an important role in building modern societies, enhancing their future, and contributing to the development renaissance.
The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received the delegation of the Gulf Media Union, in the presence of a number of journalists and artists from the Gulf countries."
"Al-Sudani listened to the interventions of the delegation members and their visions of the development and reconstruction movement witnessed by Iraq, as he pointed to the role of media, art, and sports in strengthening ties and bonds between peoples, due to its important impact on communication."
The Prime Minister pointed out according to the statement "what was achieved in the 25th Gulf Cup, which was organized in Basra, and what it reflected in terms of unity, brotherhood, and interaction between the peoples of the participating teams."
He stressed "the importance of the media in conveying the true picture of various events and issues, especially those that concern Arab public opinion, and the need for it to be responsible and objective, far from falsification that serves narrow agendas and interests," indicating that "the media has an important role in building modern societies, strengthening their future, and contributing to the development renaissance."
For their part, the delegation members appreciated the government's interest and sponsorship of the media and cultural movement in Iraq, and expressed their "thanks and appreciation for their reception and the welcome they found in Iraq."
