Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani,  attended today the 7th Baghdad International Dialogue Conference in the capital, Baghdad. Organized by the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue under the theme “Communication for Development and Regional Stability,” the conference hosts a large number of researchers and stakeholders from Iraq and around the world.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that: "In his opening speech, Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of dialogue as a constitutional tool within a framework of freedom of opinion and expression.”

He highlighted its role in uncovering opportunities and perspectives that may not always be apparent to decision-makers. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to adopting dialogue in addressing challenges at the local, regional, and international levels.

The Prime Minister stressed that the door remains open for direct national dialogue to resolve various issues and challenges. He noted that Iraq’s foreign policy adheres to a strong balance, refraining from alignment with any particular axis while engaging with all efforts aimed at preventing the spread of conflicts. At the same time, Iraq maintains its principled positions on key global issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.

Key points from the Prime Minister’s speech at the conference:

Our government assumed its constitutional responsibilities fully aware of the vast internal and external political challenges ahead.

Fulfilling our obligations and meeting the aspirations of our people while upholding Iraq’s principled positions regionally and internationally has not been easy.

We have adhered to a policy of balance despite facing political positions and unrealistic rhetoric lacking foresight and responsibility.

We uphold a precise balance to free Iraq from the repercussions of decisions that disregard our national interests and the will of our people.

What happened in Gaza is a pivotal moment in a long history of attempts to obscure the Palestinians’ right to life, land, and existence, following a bloody history of displacement and identity erasure.

In our discussions with key international actors and our engagements at the United Nations and other global forums, it has become evident that the international system has failed and is incapable of fulfilling its duties.
Iraq is determined to advance along the path of development and reconstruction—a path that cannot be delayed or postponed.

We have moved forward with major strategic projects, most notably the Development Road, which serves as an economic pillar for strengthening regional stability.

The Development Road presents an opportunity for integration and partnership with neighboring and regional countries, reinforcing Iraq’s historical, economic, and cultural significance.

We successfully initiated and encouraged key regional dialogues, most notably between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Through responsible dialogue, we completed the mission of the Global Coalition Against Daesh, transitioning to bilateral relations and security coordination with member states.

We have managed these issues with public and parliamentary support and the responsible stance of national political forces.

Trade, cultural, and economic exchange with neighboring, brotherly, and friendly countries remains one of the fundamental pillars of civilization-building and maximizing the value of natural resources.

The Development Road is reaffirmed as a regional project and a catalyst for fostering exchange between nations across multiple areas.
