Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil and the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan, launched today, Thursday, a major afforestation campaign under the slogan "Breath for the Future" aiming to plant 250 thousand trees provided by the Turkish government.
Al-Dakhil told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Within the framework of environmental cooperation between Iraq and Turkey, a major afforestation campaign was launched under the slogan "Breath for the Future" aiming to plant 250 thousand trees provided by the Turkish government in the presence of Representative Luqman Al-Rashidi and the Turkish Consul in Mosul, Serhad Varli."
Al-Dakhil added that "the afforestation campaign focused on planting trees in parks and public areas as part of efforts to combat desertification and climate change that threaten the environment."
He stressed that "the Turkish initiative comes within a broader strategy to enhance green spaces and improve air quality, which contributes to achieving environmental sustainability in Nineveh," expressing his "thanks and appreciation to the Republic of Turkey, represented by the Turkish Ambassador and Consul, for this valuable initiative." For his part, the Turkish Ambassador pointed to "the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries on environmental issues," stressing that "these initiatives contribute to building a more sustainable future for future generations."
