Energy sector development should be key focus of Baghdad-Kurdistan cooperation: Iraqi President

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed today, Tuesday, the importance of cooperation between Baghdad and the region in the energy file and the development of the electricity sector.
 
The media office of the President of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received, at the Baghdad Palace, Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadhil, and during the meeting, the plan of the Ministry of Electricity and its preparations to confront the summer season at the level of production, transmission and distribution were discussed."
 
The President of the Republic pointed out "the importance of working hard to come up with appropriate solutions to the problems suffered by the electricity network," stressing "the necessity of providing the necessary sources of support for production stations, in addition to activating investment in this vital sector and dealing with specialized international companies."
 
The statement pointed out "the importance of activating cooperation and joint coordination between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government in the energy file in order to develop the electricity sector and provide the best services to citizens and support joint projects."
 
 For his part, the Minister of Electricity stressed "the efforts of the ministry and its departments to increase the hours of electricity supply to citizens, reviewing the campaigns carried out by technical cadres to maintain and develop the electricity network, praising the direct interest of the President in this vital joint."
