Iraq’s commitment to digital transformation and industrial modernization is gaining momentum through an enhanced public-private partnership model, according to the Prime Minister’s Financial Advisor, Mudher Mohammed Saleh. He emphasized that integrating digital industrial licensing and governance mechanisms will bolster transparency, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making across key economic sectors.
In an interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Saleh stated that the government is actively working to streamline trademark registration and industrial licensing via digital platforms. “The shift toward digital governance will provide a high degree of disclosure and transparency, facilitating the seamless registration and protection of trademarks while accelerating industrial investment procedures,” he noted
. Saleh highlighted several key aspects of Iraq’s digital economic strategy, including advanced industrial data analytics, online consultancy services, and capacity-building programs. These initiatives, he explained, aim to equip businesses with cutting-edge tools for digital transformation, enhancing their competitiveness in an increasingly technology-driven global economy
.Furthermore, he underscored the strategic role of digital governance in fostering Iraq’s industrial development. “By integrating global technological standards, Iraq can attract high-value investments, stimulate research and development, and reinforce its position in the evolving digital industrial landscape,” he said
. The government’s economic strategy envisions increasing the private sector’s contribution to GDP from its current 37% to approximately 53% within the next decade, primarily through diversified industrial investments. “This expansion will not only drive economic diversification but also accelerate job creation, reducing unemployment to a single-digit rate, ideally stabilizing at around 4%,” Saleh added
. He also pointed to the development of industrial cities along Iraq’s “Development Road” project, which will leverage digital infrastructure to expedite commercial and industrial licensing. “These zones will represent the pinnacle of industrial modernization, enabling seamless digital integration to enhance Iraq’s manufacturing capabilities and global economic positioning,” he concluded
