Al-Hassan arrives in Salah al-Din and stresses the importance of rebuilding heritage sites

    Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Mohammed Al-Hassan, arrived in Salah al-Din Governorate today, Saturday, while stressing the importance of continuing coordination with the United Nations to rebuild heritage sites.

    The correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the Governor of Saladin Badr Al-Fahl, conducted a field tour in Samarra district, accompanied by the Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan, and the Minister of Education Ibrahim Al-Namis, to view the development and heritage projects in the city." 
     
    He added that "during the tour, the delegation visited the Holy Military Shrine, and met with the Secretary-General of the Shrine, Nafi Jamil Khalaf, where they listened to a detailed explanation of the efforts made to rehabilitate the shrine and the surrounding approaches, which contributes to enhancing religious tourism in the city."
     
     
    He added that "those present stressed the importance of continuing coordination with the United Nations to support infrastructure projects and the reconstruction of heritage sites, given Samarra's historical and cultural importance at the local and international levels."
