Palestine delegate to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, confirmed on Tuesday that UNRWA operates under international law and the entity has no right to ban its work, and "it is the duty of the Security Council to secure the rights of the Palestinian people."
Mansour said in a speech during the Security Council session regarding the Zionist entity's ban on UNRWA's work in the occupied territories: "There are two parties capable of providing basic services to the Palestinian people, which are the Palestinian government and UNRWA. The Zionist entity seeks to undermine them both."
"The Zionist entity cannot determine who represents the Palestinian people or claim sovereignty over East Al-Quds and the occupied Palestinian territories to stop UNRWA's work," he highlighted.
He stressed that "international law, the United Nations Charter, and Security Council resolutions are all clear references for UNRWA's work and the rights of the Palestinian people. The Security Council must implement all its resolutions without selectivity."
"It is time for the Palestinians returning to the northern Gaza Strip to reach their destination. The world owes them this, and the Security Council must complete its duty by securing the rights of the Palestinian people," he included.
Mansour warned that "hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees depend entirely on UNRWA services, and the international community cannot ignore their right to international protection."
