Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today, Tuesday, with a delegation from the energy company Stellar Energy, headed by the company’s Executive Chairman, Peter Gibson, on the sidelines of his official visit to London.

The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the meeting reviewed the progress of the company's projects in Iraq and its collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity regarding combined-cycle power plants and the mechanisms for supplying them with gas for operation. Discussions also covered the upcoming agreement between the Ministry of Electricity and Stellar Energy concerning power generation and distribution.

The Prime Minister highlighted Iraq’s ongoing plans to expand its energy sector and invest in associated gas from crude oil production to fuel power generation plants, aiming to achieve self-sufficiency and eliminate gas flaring entirely.

For his part, Peter Gibson reaffirmed the company’s commitment to executing ongoing projects according to the specified timelines. He expressed readiness to cooperate with Iraq in its key areas of expertise, particularly in turbine station cooling and other power generation projects.
