Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Mohamed Ali Tamim confirmed on Tuesday the inclusion of the first phase of the development road project.
The Ministry of Planning said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Tamim chaired an expanded meeting of the Development Road Project Committee, which includes in its membership the Prime Minister's advisers for economic affairs Kadhem al-Hasani and technical affairs Mohammed al-Darraji, undersecretaries of the ministries of planning, transport, reconstruction and housing, and a number of general directors and heads of departments in the ministries of finance, transport and planning."
The ministry added that "during the meeting, they discussed the implementation of the first and second phases of the railway, addressing the problems facing the implementation of the project, and emphasizing the importance of the fourth ring road project for the capital Baghdad as one of the important sections within the development road project, as well as benefiting from the old lines after conducting rehabilitation operations for them."
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, affirmed according to the statement, that "the Development Road Project is receiving great attention from the government, because of its economic, developmental and service importance to Iraq," noting that "the first phase of the project has been included, which is the railway, Baghdad-Baiji with a length of 200 km."
