The Assistant Head of the Chaldean Christian Sect, Bishop Basil Yaldo, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the presence of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and his participation in the glorious Christmas celebrations is the greatest support for the Christian component, while he pointed out that these occasions bring together Iraqis as original citizens of this country.
Yaldo told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Religious occasions have a very big impact when we see brothers and exchanging congratulations on holidays, we are all Iraqis, there is no difference between Christians, Muslims, Kurds and Mandaeans, these occasions bring Iraqis together as original citizens of this country."
He added, "The presence of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani is the greatest support for the Christian component, and for us this visit is very important as we see his interest in Christians, especially those who remained in this country."
In turn, the pastor of the Chaldean Cathedral of St. Joseph in Baghdad, Father Nazir Dakko, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "The Chaldean Catholic Patriarch in Iraq, Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako, always takes advantage of the holidays to show the social and national unity in Iraq, as the church was filled with all Iraqis, Muslims, Christians, Kurds, Yazidis and Mandaeans, and we hope to be together in the sense of deep human brotherhood and good intentions to build this society," indicating that "Christians are always a symbol of peace because of kindness and love and their white hand from all violence."
Dakko expressed his "happiness with the visit of the Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and the head of the National Wisdom Movement, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, and their congratulations to the Christian component on the holidays," noting that "this is a message from all the Iraqi people to their Christians that we are one nation and one people.
