The office of the Supreme Religious Authority Sayyid Ali Al-Husseini Al-Sistani in Lebanon has begun a campaign to distribute food vouchers to Syrian families displaced to Lebanese territory as a result of the recent events.
A report by the Twelve Imams website followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the campaign was launched from the town of Al-Qasr bordering Syria, and included the city of Hermel and Beirut," noting that it "will extend to cover the city of Baalbek and its districts, Zahle and its towns."
The report added that "the aid will include all displaced families on Lebanese territory," stressing that "the campaign comes within the directives of the Supreme Religious Authority for the relief of displaced Syrians."
Since the beginning of the recent Syrian crisis, Sayyid Al-Sistani's office in Lebanon has sent several relief convoys to help the displaced, including food, medical supplies and basic necessities, and has opened shelters in several Lebanese regions to receive displaced families.
