Cabinet General Secretariat: Iraqi convoys aid by land arrived in Lebanon

    The General Secretariat of the Cabinet confirmed on Tuesday the existence of high coordination with government institutions, holy shrines and governorates to collect donations for the Lebanese people while announcing the arrival of convoys of aid to Lebanon.

    "The Iraqi government is a pioneer in the ordeals by supporting brothers and neighbors, starting with the Beirut explosion, the floods that struck Sudan, and the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, where Iraq was the first to take the initiative, as attested by countries," said the spokesman for the Secretariat, Haider Majeed, to the Iraqi News Agency - INA. 

    He added, "After the start of the Zionist aggression on Lebanon, a plane carrying 15 tons of various medical supplies arrived, accompanied by 20 doctors of various specialties, followed by five shipments of the Falcons of the Air carrying 75 tons of relief supplies, carrying a shipment by the Ministry of Health, three shipments by the Popular Mobilization Forces, and a shipment by the Red Crescent," indicating that "the last batches of relief, medical shipments and convoys arrived by land to the brotherly Lebanese people after the ban and suspension of flights due to the dangerous atmosphere, and Iraq continues to send these convoys."

    Majeed stressed that "the message and statement of the supreme authority, represented by His Eminence the supreme authority, Sayyid Ali Al-Sistani, stirred the feelings of the Iraqi street towards the Lebanese people, and as a result, the Prime Minister directed to open two accounts in the Iraqi Trade Bank, as the PM, members of the Iraqi government and various ministries donated, followed by donations from heads, leaders, and members of political blocs and local governments."

    He pointed out that "Maysan Governorate opened offices to collect donations and relief materials through coordination with the General Secretariat of the Cabinet to deliver this aid to the Lebanese people," announcing the issuance of a directive from the Secretary-General of the Cabinet to open a donation box for employees of the General Secretariat of the Cabinet."

    "Coordination is ongoing with the governorates as well as the holy shrines, in addition to the leader of the Shiite National Movement, Sayyid Muqtada Al-Sadr, who opened a relief convoy in Damascus in addition to opening a convoy by the Popular Mobilization Forces in Beirut," he added, indicating that "the Red Crescent has set up field hospitals, health centers, and places to receive the IDPs at the Qaim border crossing."

    Majid announced the formation of an integrated team by the Ministry of Migration and Displacement to receive the IDPs, with "the provision of immediate and urgent food baskets to be delivered to the Lebanese brothers until they arrive."

    The Secretariat's spokesman, Haider Majeed, concluded his statement by saying, "A merchant donated 250 million dinars to aid Lebanese families in Iraq."
