Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed, today, Monday, to consider the Yazidi Fasting Day an official holiday.
A statement by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed to consider the Yazidi Fasting Day, which falls on the first Friday of the eastern month of December, and is preceded by three days each year, an official holiday for the Yazidi component."
In turn, the Prime Minister's Advisor Khalaf Sinjari confirmed to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani's directive to consider the Yazidi Fasting Day an official holiday comes from his interest in the Yazidi component, in addition to other decisions and directives related to the component and their care in Sinjar and other regions."
